I'll overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round match which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.
British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to build hype for next month's boxing match.
Former two time unified heavyweight champion Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami arena on December 19th.
Fighter's Mindset
"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I intend to genuinely try to injure him. That's what I want to do."
Respectful Exchange
In spite of those words, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - usually famous for his dramatics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.
Taking Aim at Fury
Joshua, at the same time, targeted British opponent Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his rival's fighting skills.
"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.
Jake Paul's Background
Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.
He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.
Commercial Success
Still, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's largest financial successes, regularly earning massive earnings.
Forecast and Belief
The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in rounds four or five and stated he would derail the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly in the works for two years from now.
"It will be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul said.
Physical Disparity
As the two fighters met for the usual stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it emphasized just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the match is truly happening.
